Carnival Opening

The huge “Festa veneziana” that opens, as usual, the Carnival, doubles, offering a double appointment to the guests of Venice.

Saturday 26th January:
An outstanding evening show made of poetry, music, colors and dream, will take place on the banks of Cannaregio.

At 6.00 pm the Carnival will open with the aquatic show “MetaMorPhosiS Aquaticae”, by french theatre company Ilotopie¬†
Between two bridges, between two banks, between two characters, between water and night, Ilotopie Company presents am evening water parade that floats on the canale of Cannaregio, between the bridge of “Tre Archi” and the bridge of “Guglie”.
A huge bed equipped with oars opens the door of dream, the cavalier becomes sailorman, and his horse becomes aquatic. The fire slides on the water, the king, sitting on his long red carpet, listens to his jester, while the queen plays with her servant and huge wheels with blades roll on the water.
Suddenly, huge burning carousels will transform all these characters into animals!

At the end of the show, at around 7.00 pm , the involving sounds of the Dixie Funk Parade will be the protagonist of the evening.

Sunday 27th January:
The water parade organized by Coordinamento Associazioni Remiere di Voga alla veneta will sail along the Canal Grande to the folkloristic district of Cannaregio, where the audience will watch these unique boats and where the eno-gastronomic stalls organized by A.E.P.E, with the traditional carnival delicacies, will offer venetian food specialities.

During the “Festa”, a music concert by Lagunaria will take place on the stage, bringing music tradition mixed with innovation and offering to the guests of the festa the popoular venetian song in a brand new way.

The event is organized in partnership with Coordinamento Associazioni Remiere di Voga alla Veneta and A.E.P.E. – Associazione Esercenti Pubblici Esercizi di Venezia.
